There is a necessity to take care of the proper level of this element as the deficiency leads to an increased level of cholesterol and triglycerides, hinders the digestion of proteins and promotes the release of metabolism.

Chromium has been proven to affect the regulation of blood sugar level. Most importantly, it increases the production of insulin, which is a key ingredient in the fight with overweight. Chromium and insulin are involved in protein metabolism to lower cholesterol levels. Importantly – it reduces the level of LDL (“bad cholesterol”) while at the same time increasing HDL (“good cholesterol”). That is why chromium is used as the prevention of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. This element also affects the alleviation of stress, delays the aging process of the body.
Where can I find chrome? Chromium sources in food
A varied diet gives plenty of good chromium sources. The problem is the element is hard to absorb. Products in which we can find the adequate chromium amount are, among others: liver, poultry, green peas, processed cereals, onions, corn, prunes, apples, nuts, yeast, wheat germ, eggs and fish and seafood.
The element is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract depending on several factors. The key is the form in which the chromium is taken. If we run a balanced, healthy diet, we certainly supply the right amount of chromium to the body. It can also be supplemented, however supplementation is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. Diabetes should also consult with a doctor before using. Nevertheless, if you want to boost the process of slimming and control hunger pangs it is worth reaching.

The positive effect on diabetes has been proven, although it does not always bring the expected results. In the case of weight loss – there is no consensus on its effectiveness. Probably it helps to fight against additional kilograms. A it affects metabolism the deficiency and reduces the absorption of free fatty acids by the liver. Thanks to these activities, it can prevent obesity.
Chromium is not a silver bullet of achieving desired silhouette. Certainly, it will help us maintain constant blood sugar. If the desire to eat sweets results from a strain or habits, chromium will not stop from snacking.
Remember that dietary supplements or “weight loss boosters” help change eating habits but they are not a wonderful remedy. Caloric deficit and physical activity must be included in the daily schedule. Both supplements with chromium and other natural ingredients will help us to go through a weight loss and persevere in the diet.
